About Tanvi Oswal

Hi y'all! I'm Tanvi and I'm a senior majoring in Neuroscience and Plan II with a minor in History. I was born and raised in Flower Mound, Texas, and I love reading, paddleboarding (find me at Lady Bird Lake most Sunday mornings!), DJing at KVRX, making coffee for my friends, doing the daily crossword, and picking up new crafts.

I ride for my grandpa, who passed away from lung cancer in 2014, when I was 12. I remember summer trips to India to visit him; playing cards at the dining table and going to the cafe down the street for breakfast. I ride for my great aunt, who passed away from breast cancer, also in 2014. I remember the henna designs she taught me, the sketch books she filled up for me to practice in. I ride for every person who wishes they had more time with their loved ones. 

I ride to support those working towards a cure. No one deserves to get cancer, and no one should have to worry about finding—or affording—life-saving treatment. While we have made huge progress in the fight against cancer, there is still a long way to go. In the United States, countless patients are victims of poor healthcare infrastructure, astronomically high treatment costs, and inequities in care. Along with scientific research, breaking down these systemic barriers is vital to advancing cancer care. I know that together with my teammates, our friends, families, and loved ones, we can make a difference in the fight against cancer. I hope to work towards a world in which healthcare is equitable and treatment is effective and available.
