About Krishi Manem
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for checking out my page! I’m Krishi and I am a fourth-year Neuroscience major. I was born in Chicago, IL but was raised in Plano, TX with some New Jersey thrown somewhere in between. I am on the pre-med track and am pursuing a minor in Healthcare Reform and Innovation; I hope to one day become a physician and work toward creating a more equitable and accessible healthcare system.
Here at UT Austin, I’m also a member of Texas Alpha Epsilon Delta and Longhorn EMS (I’m an EMT)! Some very mundane hobbies of mine include working out, running, trying out new restaurants, and hanging out with my friends. For some reason, I can never work at home—so you can usually find me at local coffee shops. I also love airplanes, the Dallas Cowboys, and bouldering.
I am beyond excited to embark on my Texas 4000 journey with my fellow 2024 teammates!

I first came across cancer in biology class. Cancer—an uncontrollable replication of the cells in one’s body capable of spreading and invading tissue.I’ve been extremely fortunate to not have any close family members affected by cancer, but I know the same isn’t true for many others. Since that biology class, I have watched friends, mentors, and relatives receive their shattering cancer diagnoses, seen their vibrant energies deplete, and have witnessed the long-standing effects of their loss on their loved ones and the surrounding community.
I have seen people beat cancer as well, although they continue to bear a heavy physical toll. What’s more—I have seen how people can be affected by cancer beyond physiology. Several survivors also bear excessive amounts of medical debt and financial strain following their triumphant battle with cancer.
I ride for all of these people.
My grandparents and parents have always capitalized on the power of an education. I ride for them for instilling in me the value of helping my community using the knowledge I gain from my own education.
If you or someone you know has been affected by cancer, please feel free to reach out to me to share your story. I would like to dedicate a day of my ride to you and your loved ones.
To Alaska and Further,
KRISHI MANEM
